PLAY: let's go from colour to monochrome for a change!
3

In another thread we were looking at trends on the retouching forum, and came to the conclusion that colorisations of monochrome pictures were a major part of the content. At least considering topics that really have to do with image editing, and not with software or 'one click' solutions.

That got a bit nostalgic, and after looking at some nice B/W photography, which is an art in itself, I had the idea to go the other way around for once. The play would be to take a colour image, and make it monochrome. Can be shades of grey or tinted in one specific colour, whatever you like.

Try not to use the 'Auto' settings in your software, but spend some time on it, to make it the best version you can. And please state what you have done to the image, what your way of thinking was. Did you emulate the classical filters, did you dodge/burn the image, do you work with a zone-system? Did you try to emulate an actual BW film? Stuff like that.

You may use the sample below, or provide one of yourself, that others can also play with. If you do so, please provide the color original as well as the monochrome result.

my original, a fountain near Jardin Luxembourg in Paris.
