The Sony a7s ii as a Pocketable Video Camera (with Sony FE 28-60 Zoom): Tests
2

The a7s iii is Sony's best camera for video: 10bit 422 up to 4K 120P all-intra and so on.

And, yes, the a7s iii and the FE 28-60mm fit easily in my parka pocket. It is a very compact shooter:

The FE 28-60mm lens, though, is definitely limiting - it has a nonconstant aperture, it is slow, it has limited range. But for video...

1. It is essentially parfocal - you can zoom without losing focus.

2. It is sharp and with good contrast.

3. It has fast and silent AF.

So, I tried it out as a travel camera, shooting scenes from particular locations nearby (since long-distance travel is on hold). No low light, yet. Very bright and contrasty days, so I also used an ND 8X filter combined with a PL filter mainly to cut the glare from the banks of snow.

Here are three examples, all shot with this compact lens, some with subtle zooms.

Astor Place:

Union Square:

Washington Square Park:

And, on these days having the EVF was essential - forget the FX3.
