All beautiful (as usual with your images)! The snowflakes are really outstanding. The patience you must have had to find the well-shaped snowflakes in the right position is truly impressive as well.

One problem I've encountered the few times I've tried focus bracketing for close-ups is that I've failed to get the camera to lock in focus on the part of the subject that is absolutely the closest to the camera (and focus stacking only goes toward infinity). For instance, the camera might lock in on the body of a caterpillar but a leg might be closer but not detected for focusing. Do you have any special techniques for setting the closest focal point?

Manual focus always.  Get the camera where you want it right before your focus point and waste a few shots to get what you need.

also, I always use electronic shutter
