Nikon D5300 + Tamron 35mm 1.8

Hello to all ladies and gentlemen.

What do you think of a Nikon D5300 and Tamron 35mm 1.8 for full body cat portraits?

Not only for cats but for snails and ants in my garden.

It can focus down to 0.2m providing a max. object magnification of 1:2.5.

I was conflicted between buying a D3300 or a D7100 but i am thinking about the D5300 due to the smaller size than D7100 and more focus points than D3300.

Doesn't have weather sealing (won't take it on the rain) and AF adjustment like the D7100 but i can use the Tamron TAP-in console if i experience problems.

No second dial but i can change aperture / ISO on manual by pressing one button and change them through the single dial. So not a disaster.

Plus it's cheaper and i can use that extra money for another lens for birds that visit me.

What are your thoughts about this combination?

Thank you.
