can i ask why you think the nikon much better? Did you calibrate the sigma with the dock?

I could never get acceptably sharp images out of the Sigma, and yes I spent a bunch of time calibrating it, which in my opinion should really be done at the factory!

With the Nikkor I get sharp images every time, AF lock on subject seems to be a lot better and VR is substantially better than the Sigma!

so how would you compare then your images out of your old sigma and its replacement to the Sigma photos I provided above at those focal lengths? Are they what you'd call acceptably sharp or about the same as your sigma experience?

This is what I consider sharp. These were out of my 70-200mm f/2.8
