Agree. Most of mid-range smartphone (e.g. iPhone SE 2020 $399) main rear camera has OIS.

Since smaller APS-C Ricoh GR III has IBIS, no reason larger Fujiflm X100V can't doing. Nobody request IBIS must > 5 stops.

I don't know why you brought up stabilization in phones. Those sensors are tiny and their small lenses are mediocre. Furthermore, no one expects optical excellence from a phone.

The GR, however, is an appropriate example of stabilization.

May be X100 series only will aggressive improve lot if next Ricoh GR :

  1. Built-in pop-up EVF/OVF (like Sony RX100 series, but can switch via replace EVF/OVF part)
  2. Tilting screen (like Sony RX100 series).
  3. WR include lens.
  4. Change to 20mm (30mm equivalent) F2 lens.
  5. Optional flash attach on side of camera (like Contax T optional side flash).
  6. Better touch screen menu like BMPCC 4K.
  7. Increase physical button via redesign PASM dial into D-Pad + larger PASM (just like existing rear bottom dials).
  8. Improve battery life via dual layers screen (B&W LCD screen/color AMOLED which used in TicWatch Pro smartwatch).

Thats a whole lot of what-ifs you think the next GR will get.

1 - Don’t want because no OVF.

2 - I’m fine with the XE4’s screen but really I’d rather the X-T3’s screen.

3 - Don’t want WR if the lens isn’t internally focusing, which is what the X100V with filter is.

4 - 20mm isn’t all that different from 23mm.

5 - I’d rather an X-E2 style flash instead of one that primarily illuminates one side of your subject.

6 - A better screen is always good

7 - I don’t want a PASM dial

8 - I spend so little time in the menus that I doubt it would noticeably improve battery life for me.
