Re: How terrible is the 60mm AF?

I really like the lens but I will say of all my fuji lenses it's the only one that misses focus regularly. I would say maybe one out of 10 shots is out of focus and I'm probably being generous. I can't remember the last time any of my other fuji lenses did that. I do use it in somewhat challenging conditions such as for landscape around sunset, but my other fuji lenses do fine in those situations. The other day I was doing some landscape panoramas consisting of about 5 or 6 shots and I think maybe 3 of the 6 series I did had all shots in focus. Kind of disappointing.
I'm using it on an XT 3 with current firmware.
I guess I'm just spoiled with all the great lenses that have come out in the last few years, the very early fuji lenses are a step behind at least, imho.
landscape photogs are rarely in a hurry.
I bet many of other lenses on the market more or less reach their technical limit in available light conditions like sunset and so on... remember that a macro lens is NOT especially developed for sports.
And remember that AF speed is NOT priority no. 1 for good photography, optical quality like sharpness throughout the frame and even wide open, color rendition and bokeh are by far more important as long as you are not shooting sports or running dogs...
Just use focus peaking and manual focus.
for about 150 years ALL photographers had nothing but manual focussing.
With some experience you are in focus in a heartbeat.
Does it really make a difference if it takes 1 or 3 seconds to take a shot of a sunset?
Are You in a hurry while taking landscape shots? Relax !
perhaps you should think about it..
In landscape photography Me myself do always two things at the same time:
firstly enjoying the wonderful nature and the landscape (often enough even for a long time before shooting and planning how to take my shots) - and secondly I just take my pictures.
I think we gave lots of opinions and shared deeply our experience with the lens - honestly I get a little bit disappointed about the OP.
cheers.
