Re: How terrible is the 60mm AF?

The range limiter is implemented on the X-T4 and it was part of update 4.00 on the X-T3.

Range limiter or not, it seems to me that the AF has at least two operating regimes. When the camera has no hint as to where the subject is, it will scan the whole focus range. This is the worst case scenario and then focusing feels like a long time.

Very often, the camera can figure out approximately where the subject is and then AF is very quick. One useful technique is to pre-focus in the surroundings of where your subject is going to be and then re-focus on the subject. The last part might be quite fast.

For instance the XF60 can track a slow moving person in AF-C mode with the X-T3.

However the camera may resort to a full scan once in a while if it gets lost -- focus wise.

To be sure, you might want to borrow one for a weekend and use it with your own camera before you buy.
