Won’t happen but the only thing that would make me purchase an X100 camera is mechanical manual focus with distance scale on the lens and a real range finder.

The OVF experience as it is has too many compromises for me.

Otherwise dump the OVF and equip it with a better EVF.

Several features of the X100 line are there to mitigate the lack of mechanical focus and distance scale: everything from the digital distance scale to the focus limiter.

Clutch focus and a distance scale would go a long way to enhancing the original direct-control gestalt of the X100 series. Fuji's shown they can do this with lenses like the 14/2.8.

I agree except that it would necessitate a longer lens.  But I'd be willing to go along with that in order to get either a very reliable and accurate manual focus mode that can easily be switched to/from auto focus.  Basically, I'd like to see a manual focus mode in the same vein as the Leica Q2.  I'm ok without any kind of optical viewer.
