Reading the great diversity of mostly-mutually-exclusive comments (including my own) in this thread, it makes me remember when I was in a product development role many years ago. My saying was that you should never ask a customer what they want, because the answer will be something that cannot be built and for a price that could never be achieved. Instead, look at how the product is actually used, and make your best judgement on a compromise of features and performance. It also helps to distinguish from the competition in some regard, but don't try to do it on price, but rather value.

Hopefully Fuji has a vision and follows it. They will make an occasional mis-step, which is usually recoverable. If they depend on the market for the vision, they'll be doomed. So far they seem to have gotten it mostly right. Not saying everything has been perfect for me - but rather overall best for most.
