The sigma 56mm is in the same ball park, and I wonder what happens if you compare it to the RF 85mm f/2.0. It could be close.
IMO it depends on what you’re shooting. I love the Sigma 56 on the M6ii. The RF 85/2 just edges it out in sharpness,
Ah thanks, that saves me some pixel peeping.
but the bokeh can be busy if you’re not very careful with your backgrounds.
In most cases it's not a problem. The 50 Art is my light weight alternative for the 105mm Art when backgrounds are busy. If I need a tighter field of view, I can mount that one on the M6mkII too now. I'm wondering how that will work at f/1.8 or f/2.0. Originally I bought the 50mm Art as my 85mm-ish for my M50, and at 24Mp it worked very well.
50mm @f/2.0 on crop gives less background blur compared to 85mm @f/2.2 on full frame, however, the business of the RF 85mm isn't about smoothness, but something else I'm not able to really understand what it is what's making the overall look more busy.
I've purchased an M6mkII next to my R.
I say Great Balls O’ Fire!
M System + R System is a match made in heaven!
Really looking forward to see how the AF-tracking works with the 50-100mm f/1.8.
Reasons:
11-22mm
Outstanding performer esp when paired with 32 MP.
I rarely shoot at very wide angles, so it's really nice to have something not taking up too much space.
32mm
My true love.
50-100mm f/1.8 (as I already own it)
The improved grip on the M6ii will help a little here.
The M50 was fine. The M100 was not good enough enough, but for me it doesn't matter if it's on the M50 or the M6mkII.
future 100-400mm
The Canon 100-400ii on the M6ii is lights out. Even the 1.4x iii works wonderfully with this combo.
That Canon is too expensive and too heavy.
I just bought the little Laowa 65mm 2x Macro this week (as a quick and easy alternative to the big ol’ 100L Macro) and preliminary testing is very promising. (hint hint)
Macro is not for me, and certainly not 2x macro. I've seen the reviews, and the lens is great for sure.
Have fun with your new toy ‘Storm, and be sure to tell us all about it!!
