If you haven't already, I would recommend browsing Peter Zelinka's youtube channel. He frequently used a Sigma 150-600 with a Nikon full frame body and got excellent results.


He does use a relatively inexpensive tracker (iOptron Skyguider Pro) but does have it set up for autoguiding which adds on about another $300.

"Not too heavy" probably rules out any 500mm f/4 lenses. Though even with a much lighter 150-600 you're still looking at needing counterweights to balance your tracker if you don't already have them.
