What would I be giving up - a7iii vs a7RIV

I have an a7iii now and love it. We're planning a trip out to Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons and Glacier NP in August so I'm evaluating my system for possible upgrades.
I'd like a better wildlife lens. My longest telephoto now is the Sony 70-300 G. In my experience that's too short for most wildlife. I'm thinking about either the  Sony 100-400 GM or the 200-600 G. I'm leaning toward the 100-400 GM with the 1.4 teleconverter mainly because it's easier to carry.
1) Is the 100-400 GM (with teleconverter) an acceptable substitute for the 200-600?

Secondly, I also thought about buying a a7RIV to replace my a7iii. My thinking is that I'll have an amazing 61 megapixels for landscape shots, and I could also use crop mode, with the 100-400 GM lens and teleconverter for even more reach, if needed. In crop mode I'd still have 26 megapixel images.

2) What would I be giving up moving to the a7RIV?
3) Is my logic sound in using the teleconverter and the crop mode of the a7RIV for even more reach?
I know I'll give up a stop of light using the teleconverter. Anyone else tried this setup?
My other lenses are the Tamron 17-28mm and the Tamron 28-75mm.
