Hi Rumple, could you please expand on this?

I bought the R1C1 but have yet to use it.

I'm not a prolific photographer and am unfamiliar with the term on-axis flash.

If the kit is not particularly helpful for the AF 200 f4, it would be good to hear more about it before its value is lessened by my using it.

Thanks if you've the time/inclination.

The R1C1 attaches to the front of the lens and then the flash are little units that sit about 1" to 2" from the mount ring or lens. If you aim it out 10 to 12" from the lens, there's no angle to the lens. It just points nearly straight forward.

Put yours together and you'll see what We're talking about.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your attempt to educate.

I'm in the process of packing for a move so unfortunately that won't be happening for a while.

Accepting what your saying about the flash pointing straight forward but, unfamiliar with utilising the flash anyway, its unclear to me what the issue is, hence my request for some expansion on the topic.

Is it safe to assume there would be some benefit to have the flashes aimed more at and angle(?) and why?
