There was some issues a while back with grinding focus rings and noisy focusing in general, I’m wondering if the issue is now gone, or if it’s just how the camera sounds. Thanks.

My copy started out with an intermittently rasping and slightly noisy focus ring, as well as an aperture ring that was noticeably stiffer and less smooth than the one on my X100F.

The good news is that both rings have improved with use. The aperture ring has loosened up to the point where I no longer give it a second thought. It's still a tad stiffer than the ap ring on the F, but as Chris Dodkin points out above, this is probably down to the finer tolerances or seals required for the WR rating.

The action of the focus ring seems smoother after several months of use. It still makes an audible rasping noise (i.e. audible in a quiet room or with the camera up to my face), but it's not as noisy as the focus rings on some of my XF lenses, so I'm no longer concerned. I confess, I did initially consider returning it, but given how it has loosened up and "bedded in", I've stopped obsessing about it and am now just enjoying the camera.

PS. I've not had a problem with "noisy focusing". My X100V's focusing motor sounds little different to that of my F. If anything, the V's focusing motor is a shade quieter, but there's very little in it.

Edit: Just realised that I've replied to a six month old post. Oh well, more grist for the mill, and all that.
