So the rear dial is essential because, on a camera with dedicated dials for shutter speed and exposure compensation, people assign two more dials to control shutter speed and exposure compensation? I figured people might be using them for film sims and ISO, but I think I'll echo that other user and say that if not bizarre, this is at least pretty niche.

Maybe the question Fuji's designers asked themselves was this: How large is this group of people who prefer a Leica style minimalistic look, but at the same time feel they need a maximalist set of control options? Then they decided, probably not enormous.

On the question of manual lenses, I asked a Leica-infested Youtuber about it. He told me the X-E4 is very accommodating here. Just stick on the lens and you're good; no need to menu dive to set the focus to manual, or turn on peaking or 'shoot without lens' after you've done it once. Focus magnification can be set to either the joystick, the front dial or the top Fn button.

In other words, the question is which group of user willing buy X-E series camera?

  1. Existing Fujilike lovers who like dedicated dials.
  2. Leica user who prefer premium body, social attitude, stylish, manual focus lens.
  3. Premium P&S camera user.

Are any existing Leica (camera which social attitude) user willing buy X-E4 instead of another Leica?

Are existing Sony RX100 series (premium P&S which has brilliant auto focus) user willing switch to X-E4?
