Sigma 150-600 mm lens
3

I've been using this lens for several years of Moonshots with my SD1M. But I'm also interested in other astrophotography, and Sigma cameras are not well suited for that.  I also like the idea of a longer FL that I can use for both AP and other things, like birding. (Also, the telescope optics that I'm interested in are out of stock for a month or more...)

So I just bought another Sigma 150-600 (c) in a Nikon mount, and while waiting for clear, moonless nights, I've been stalking wildlife in the backyard.

The NIkon D7200 has no blur fillter, and I sharpen the images with Topaz Sharpen AI. I'm posting these full-resolution images just to show the sharpness of this lens (aided by software). They are all hand-held at 600 mm, and the first is at 1/100th second, which is pretty amazing considering my shakey hands.

Look at these full-size.

On the squirrel image, Topaz went beserk on the OOF tail hairs and I had to blend in the un-sharpened image on that part of the tail.

While waiting for more birds I took a picture of the fence. This is only part of the image - the full is 17MB.

If you told me this was a Foveon image, I'd believe you.
