Once upon a time we had analog slide projectors projecting slides into total darkness and every kind of white balance looked gorgeous. The bad awakening came once paper prints were made and viewed in ambient light - what a shock. Endless sheets of Cibachrome were wasted but never seemed right. How nice and easy is this WB picker in LR - but yes, not perfect.

Indeed, projected slides were quite something and somehow the dust and scratches were an accepted nuisance. How times have changed . Cibachrome prints always looked kind of cold and over contrasty to me ,didn't really care for it.

Ah but when you saw a really good print, well you had to try and make them yourself. The Ilford shop in London, was my nemesis, Sadly I chose to use Kodachrome to print from.
