Scanning negative films (35 and 120)

I already tried all this...

I went through the exact same thought process as you.  I shot some BW film, both 35mm and 645.   Developed in my kitchen, then printed in a darkroom.  Next step...let's scan!!!

My conclusion after a lot of technical research and trial/error is this:  The analog process should stay analog all the way.  Once an analog image enters the digital realm, it will never be as good as the same image taken with a good digital camera.

I found this to be certainly true with 35mm negs and more or less true for 120 film.
