Why is the R5/6 spot focus point so much bigger than the 5D4/dslr?

Just curious as to why the spot AF point as big as it is on the R5/6? I heavily rely on the smallness of the spot AF on my 5d4 to shoot accurately through branches and other foreground distractions.

any ideas why it can’t be this small on the new R’s?
