Polarized filter location - drop-in or at front element - any difference?

Hi,

Just for curiosity, when you take a landscape photo of blue sky with wide-angle lense and use polarization filter on top of front element, you only get one spot/area of the sky polarized/darker. Whole sky is not evenly impacted. Is the result the same when drop-in polarizer is used (eg a polarizer in Canon EF-to-RF adapter) (because the location of the Polarization filter is at the back of the lens/closer to sensor, impact to the sky is much more even)?
