?: Question re: Sport mode vs. Normal mode on 70-200mm f/2.8 E

Hello everyone!

I was shooting today with my D500 and newly acquired 70-200mm f/2.8 vr E lens and noticed that I had inadvertently bumped the VR switch on my lens causing it to go from "normal" to "sport".

I was shooting a stable subject, a bird, and saw that the image appeared more shaky than when in normal VR. Thats when I looked at the switch and discovered the button had moved to "sport".

Ive read in the lens literature that sport mode is designed for moving subjects where panning is involved. Im guessing that the "normal" mode is a better performer for a static subject vs. sport mode. I used to think that sport mode was just a more dramatic form of VR, but I don't think that is the case.

Thanks very much for any insight you can give me.

Best to you,

Rick
