That's what I get for my M5 from camerashuttercount.com. Guess we'll just use them till they break.

I've got a growing list of gripes about its design and functionality but I just can't put it down.

Based on the single comment in the quoted Shutter Count thread, where someone confirmed that Eosmsg worked for their M5, I gave it a shot. I wasn't keen on blowing even $7 in case it didn't work with the M5, but it seems that it does work. Eosmsg is a nasty, frustrating app, and connection is spotty, but I finally managed to connect, and it reported a "Shotcount" of 10222 (and unsurprisingly, a "Mirrorcount" of 0). I had hoped Gphoto2 running on my preferred Linux, with its command line only interface, would read the count, but it too doesn't support the M5. Having a camera like this based on Powershot firmware is quite a letdown.

As to your comment about the design and functionality, I have to agree. I was thinking I could sell off my 7D and accessories and keep the M5, but I'm not so sure I will. As you say, I can't put it down
