Perhaps AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard (free) would be a decent alternative; I boot it from a separate drive to do my partitioning.

Hi Austinian,

I saw in one of your previous posts that you used Aomei Partition Assistant free successfully so I had installed it at the same time as I did MiniTools.  It worked well and it does not put my drives "in use" like MiniTools did.  I'm keeping Aomei.

By the way, Minitools put BOTH of my internal data drives "in use", not only one.  I couldn't change the drive letter on both internal data drives (wanted to swap the drive letters) until I removed MiniTools.  So I suspect the MiniTools auto start routine interrogates all drives on boot up and then does not release them.  A really bad program IMO.

Thanks,
Sky
