Panasonic kit-lenses: H-FS12060 vs. H-FSA14140
1

Hello,

for anyone who may be looking for a comparisson between the Panasonic MFT kit-lenses H-FS12060 and H-FSA14140 F3.5-5.6, I am attaching a graph showing their respective brightness over focal length. The focal length is given in FF-equivalent mm.

The data was generated by starting at the wide end and continuously zooming in. As soon as the displayed apperture changed, a picture was taken in order to document the focal length. As this 'measurement' was a simple one-time affair with both lenses, please take the precision of the results with a pinch of salt.

Looking at the graph, my key takeaways are as follows:

  • both lenses have an apperture range from 3.5-5.6
  • H-FS12060 has a 5 x zoom range from FF-eq 24 mm to 120 mm
  • H-FSA14140 has a 10 x zoom range from FF-eq 28 mm to 280 mm
  • H-FSA14140 is brighter than H-FS12060 over the shared focal range, reaching a max. delta of approx. 1/2 stop more light at around 80-85 mm (F4.7 vs. F5.5)

I yet have to look into how they compare for sharpness.

Handling wise, I found that the H-FS12060's zooming action is way smoother than the H-FSA14140's which is quite 'sticky'.
