Any lenses use in-lens focal reducer for 'fake' wider aperture?

I am wondering this for quite some time.

We all know the speedboosters, where a full frame lens field of view is narrowed down to fit on a smaller sensor.

This results in an identical image to the full frame version, and also identical relative camera noise (since a lower ISO is required for the same exposure).

Manufacturers could make a small sensor F 2.5 version of the same full frame F4 lens with little extra cost.

Is this only possible with mirror to mirrorless conversion, due the required focal distance for focal reducers to work?
