Camera industry in decline
3

I didn't see any new camera products at CES 2021.   I have not seen any new (non derivative) camera products in a few years.

Is the camera bubble over?  It seems like almost everyone was buying  dedicated camera equipment  back in 2009.  I can't tell you how many rebel DSLRs I saw around parents necks at soccer matches and baseball games.

Now  -  it seems the smartphone has become 'good enough'.   That combined with all those camera owners realizing that   it actually still takes  knowledge and work to get good  photos even if you buy expensive equipment.

Are we about to see the camera industry go to only appealing to professionals and well heeled amateur-enthusiasts?

Is the 'golden age' of digital cameras as dedicated equipment now over?
