I'm gonna go against the grain here and recommend an odd combo:  EF 70-200 f2.8 Non-IS with 1.4x III extender.

Yes you will need an RF-EF adapter.  I'm suggesting this as a 70-200 will often be too short for capturing the far-away action.  The extender gives you basically a 100-280mm f4 lens, which is a great range and still pretty fast aperture.  The RF lens does not take extenders, so no luck there.

Best part, you can pick up this lens used for $600-700.  The image quality is still fantastic and the focus is fast.  The lens lacks IS but for action that's not critical anyway since you'll need shutter speeds in the 1/800 or higher range.  Your R6 gives you IBIS anyway.

Just something to consider...
