For me, an additional attraction of an RF mount APS-C camera is I can adapt the very good, small, lightweight EF-S lenses I own to it.

Isn't ef-s glass getting a bit too outdated already to make an 32Mp aps-c sensor more interesting than a full frame sensor?

I will find out if an RF mount APS-C camera is released. So far they are plenty good for a 24mp sensor and 32mp isn't all that far off. I think they will do fine for my needs.

I can think of 2 crop lenses - the sigma 56mm f/1.4 and the Canon 32mm f/1.4 - , but those have the ef-m mount. There are other relatively compact lenses on crop, but those cover the full frame circle too. The sigma f/1.8 zooms? These are crop lense, but not compact at all.

I expect there will be plenty of 2nd party RF lenses over time. It seems like some people think the RF lens catalog is frozen when it will keep growing and maturing over time.

Would the ef-s 24mm f/2.8 stm be better on a 32Mp crop sensor than the RF 35mm f/1.8 is stm on a full frame sensor? I don't think so. Yes, the 24mm is a pancake, but with the adapter that advantage has gone.

I think, in general, crop lenses provide a better balance of performance versus weight and size than using FF glass. There are some exceptions but those lenses usually are not stabilized. If an R7 does show it should have IBIS which will help a lot with adapting several of EF the primes I use.
