That optical phenomenon is called “lens flare” which tends to occur - even with certain expensive interchageable lenses - when one points the camera/lens at the source of light. You point your camera at the sun, you get the “purple spots” and you blame the “defective” camera! Try to do the same with the FZ300.

Not that one should never shoot against the sun. With proper skills, one can achieve attractive “sun burst” effects.
