Thanks Ferazzzz_2011, sounds promising.

Definitely, the plan is to go with the 1.4's in EF-M where possible (to reduce weight/size)

I think in one of eye-AF reviews there might have been a suggestion M6mkII needs the subject to be relatively closer to the camera than on R/RP to pick-up the eyes (or to rephrase that, the subject's eye needs to fill "more" of the frame).

I find it a bit hard to believe as I guess this is Digic-driven, unless strategically compromised, but I might be wrong.

How do you see it?

I have both the R (recently bought refurbished) and the M6II. I would say that the R does pick up the eye from a bit further away, but that the M6II does equally well tracking when it has the eye. Also, when you're far enough away, the difference between face detect and eye detect is imperceptible in the actual shot. If the M6II is far enough away that it's detecting the face but not the eye, the whole face will be within the depth of field, even at F1.4.

As the length of a thread approaches 150, the probability that someone will make the obvious "it's not the camera, it's the photographer" remark approaches 1.
