Re: Digic Version and Drive Modes

I tried to find some information on Youtube and only had a little success with hearing the sounds from cameras.  There are some Canon cameras that have silent mode like the Canon M50.  But I don't know how much different they will sound.  Maybe the best way to know, is to go to a retail store and test them out.  Or ask the questions on one of mirrorless Dpreview forums.  I believe some of the more expensive Canon DSLR cameras have also better control of the shutter sound.

There are times having a silent mode is important.  One time when I was taking pictures of a performance on a stage, I had to wait until there was some laughter etc., before I would push the shutter.  I was able to get good pictures, but I didn't want to annoy other people around me with the clicking noise.  Another time was when I was taking pictures of birds near a feeder, the clicking noise would scare a few of them off.  I would consider something like a mirrorless camera also, if I could find one that had a useful silent mode.  It's something I have been thinking about.  It hasn't been a high priority with me, but I often have that in the back of my mind.

What benefits would you find having a camera with a silent shutter mode?  Is it just annoying or are there other reasons?
