Re: Show a little caution...

I think it's always worth using common sense and doing a bit of research. However if Canon had their way (like Gillet razors, Apple etc), I would have to spend over £2000 for my new M6ii if I want to get a fraction of their branded accessories (I'm excluding glass). They have a huuuge marketing budget to recoup. Count how many times you see. Canon ads in the next 4 weeks.

I agree re the skimping on metals in some cases but that's where the research comes in. And the batteries are uncoded so I probably wouldn't charge them in the camera. In fact I don't plug any tech into a mains grid without a surge protector and often a voltage regulator. The rest of your comments make you sound either like a Canon employee or you're super rich (but that kind of money doesn't come without some risk;).

Firstly gold can be found on most connectors costing pennies.

The Samsung phones that blew up. How many Li-ion, Li-po devices are there out there not exploding? Billions. Apple's press department (ahem) blew that right up to their advantage. Funny as their phones' crucial tech is mostly Samsung. Batteries/devices only take what they need from transformers (within reason). More likely the charger will blow up

I would like to know what percentage of Canon's cameras' (especially the new ones with wifi, bluetooth, hdmi chipsets and a load more) are conceived and manufactured by Canon. Not much.

Like I said common sense and research. Then I might even be able to spend where it counts; the glass.
