If m6 mark ii add weather sealing, IBIS, EVF, 14fps electronic shutter, and big grip, It will be called R7.

I would love to see an R7 (7D2 replacement). I’d think it would get a DIGIC X chip, so it should sport most of the features of the big boys (animal eye AF, fast readout/display, 10+ FPS/20 FPS eShutter). But I don’t think Canon will give it IBIS (in order to maintain enough market segmentation).

Canon can produce R7 or something else at any time. But Canon is waiting for a good time.

They need to wait until the R5 feeding frenzy dies down, so that R7 sales don’t cannibalize any lingering R5 sales.

That's why I bought the M6II recently, and it seems I am not alone.

Underestimated camera, sensor is better than expected.

+1 Absolutely agree. The AF is what still astounds me, even after more than a year.

Canon never will release a crop camera at the same level than the full-frame models, the eventual R7 will be limited in one or other way too.

True, it won’t reach the R5/R6 level, but IMHO an R7 will be just a tier down, and still VERY capable. A crop sensor still ensures that it wouldn’t be a big threat to the R5/R6.

Less if the price is high (I expect R6 level at least). It has to be more snobby than the 7DII.

I think it should be kept right at the same level as the 7D2.

Time of popular photography is over, manufacturers focus on upscale products to survive.

Well, I think there’ll be an entry-level R body coming next. And of course the M System will soldier on due to its unique position (small, light, inexpensive) as well.

Personally I think it’s a shrewd move by Canon to maintain two separate (and incompatible) lines, tied together by the extensive EF lens library (if needed).  Why only sell one if you can sell two instead!
