When others do reverse-engineer the RF code, I’d speculate that they’d start off with a non-stabilized prime first, as the IS/IBIS interface seems trickier to manage.

The aren't "Cracking" any code or they will have a lawsuit! They have to negotiate a contract allowing them to use Canon Algorithms and Code before they jump into that water. Otherwise they are stuck in the EF Algorithm world. Just the way it IS.
