they are just going to take their L and FE mount lenses and adapt them to the RF mount by changing the firmware. They'll do the same sooner or later for the Z mount too.

It might be the control ring giving sigma pause. With the extra ring, they would need to give canon lenses extra features on top of a significant body rebuild... or go no extra and run into longer term issues. There is some philosophy behind this. If I were building a disposable lens like Samyang, I would not care, but sigma has service they can provide and back their products.

Yup. if you look at all their lenses they are pretty much the same across brands.

but they used to do different things for Nikon I believe, so there's a chance we at least get a switch like the RF STM's - that's probably the easiest method.
