Thank you very much. Yes I see them fairly cheap. But this is a sentimental camera to me. I can see myself purchasing a used one and just replacing the defective parts in mine

It's the screw head and shaft for the AF drive.

If you need the whole "AF Driving Unit" (motor and such), that's sadly NLA. Its P/N is A-1317-688-B.

Page 106 shows the AF drive parts.

If you open it, you might find a stripped gear that you might be able to source from eBay or something, or maybe have 3D printed.

On the other hand, with 500K actuations on it, it might be better to just get a good used A700 with less use. Looks like they can be had around $200 on eBay.
