Canon MP-E 65 and diffraction
3

I use an MP-E on an M3. The M3 shows on the screen where sharp areas are, in combination with this lens that's very useful. I thought i'ld never use that option!

I have tested the lens and diffraction sets in much earlier than I expected. Due to corona I have not yet done the things I bought the lens for: stacked images of tiny insects in the zoological museum.

Depth of field is very shallow at these magnifications, so most interesting are apertures where diffraction not yet sets in, to have at least a bit of DOF.

1:1 f/7.1

2:1 f/6.3

3:1 f/5.6

4:1 f/4.5

5:1 f/4.0

Eventually 1/3 stop extra is usable, but the next 1/3 you'll loose a bit of the finest details.
