Asymmetrical Aperture Blades on Nikon Z 35 1.8 S
3

Hi there,

So I just bought a Nikon Z 35 1.8 S this Black Friday. While the optical performance of the lens is amazing, I noticed the aperture blades on this lens are highly asymmetrical. It's very obvious if you stop it down to f 16, and it's still noticeable at f 5.6. I also shot a few images at f 5.6 and it seemed the weird aperture shape is visible on bokeh.

I do not remember I had a lens in which aperture blades have this level of asymmetry before. I also own other Nikon Z 1.8 lens and they all look pretty normal to me.

Do you think this lens might have some defects or was damaged during shipping? If so I will get a replacement. Also, pictures of aperture blades of your own Nikon Z 35 1.8 S would be really appreciated. I would like to know what is considered within normal manufacturing tolerance. Thanks in advance for your reply!

At f 16

At f 5.6
