Re: One DSLr and Lens? My answer might surprise some...

Hi!

We all have different photographic equipment needs.

Since I'm not a pro, I would consider a D5 and 200 VR (or possibly the 70-200 f/2.8E Fl).

The 200VR takes a 2x TC well so I have a decent f/4, 400mm for wildlife.

However, since I acquired the 70-200 f/2.8E Fl, I might go with that for the extra flexibility and give up the better IQ and AF of the 200VR.

What about the shorter focal lengths?

Well, my iPhone is doing OK in a pinch....

Best regards,

RB

I’m sorry to say but the 200 f2 VR/VRII does not have better AF performance over the 70-200FL, if anything it’s the other way around and the 70-200FL has faster and more accurate AF. The 70-200FL is just as fast and accurate as is my 500mm f4E VR FL. Which is a much newer lens than the 200mm f/2 VR and is said by Nikon to have better AF over previous generation lenses. The 200 f/2 VR does have superior IQ, but AF no.
