  • External monitor support. Can you live with a single external monitor?
  • Number of USB-C (TB3) ports. Are two enough?

I guess you can run up to 6 external screens through a hub

A Thunderbolt chain can have up to six devices, but that by itself does not get you extra displays. (eGPUs might, but reportedly don't work on M1-based Macs yet.) For TB3-equipped Airs, the limits have been "two external 4K displays or one 5K display" (Intel models) or "one external display" (M1 models).

ii have the LG ultrafine, one cable for power, monitor and 1 TB and 3 USB C ports,

No doubt a convenient package – but you can only use one such display with a MacBook Air. Apple says that the display "doesn't support daisy-chaining of displays" and that the three downstream USB-C ports "provide additional connectivity to USB 3 devices only."

Apple Support – Use the LG UltraFine 5K Display with your Mac or iPad Pro
