Taking a senior portrait with my Nikon Z50

My graduate asked me to take her senior photo. I've never taken a proper portrait.

I have the Z 50mm f1.8 prime and the Z 24-70 f4 S. I can borrow a basic external flash attachment to put on the Z50.

She wants it done outside. I know enough to avoid harsh light and shadows on her face. If we are lucky we will get partly cloudy. I also know bokeh is crucial with not too busy of a background.

Should I be using a tripod? How might I use the flash? Focal length?

I think it will be a top half type of portrait rather than just face, but there's a chance she might want full length.

Was thinking I should bring my laptop to see the photos in better detail before we leave. The viewfinders just don't quite tell me enough about my shots.

Thanks for any tips!
