Why my 14-24mm f/2.8G not sharp?

I've just bought a used Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF-S lens which is said to be a razor sharp lens. But I've found it very disappointing in terms of sharpness. At 24mm, it is most obviously not as sharp as my cheap kit lens Nikon 24-120mm. I wonder if it's because I'm not making a fair comparison or this is just a bad copy of Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G? I'll have to decide if I'll return it back soon. Many thanks in advance for all your thoughts.
Hi!
I've been pretty happy with the sharpness of my 14-24, taken at 24mm; here it's at a reasonable "landscape f-stop" of f/8:

As previously mentioned, it would be very useful to see some of your 14-24 examples!

Many thanks for sharing your sample photo. Much appreciated. I created different post on the same subject when I noticed that my first post wasn't made live after a few hours. So I actually shared a few sample photos in another post which has received more responses: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/64609148. I'll be very interested to know if you think their sharpness is acceptable. Many thanks.
