A new appreciation for the low end....

Since travels to places like our national parks, and with street festivals gone for now, and sporting events on hold, I have needed to focus my photography jaunts to local nature preserves, some urban forests and lesser known botanical gardens.

My E-M1 III, 40-150 Pro and PL100-400 have be supplanted by my smaller kits and my focus has turned to flowers, bugs, butterflies, etc.

First I became fast friends with my E-M5 III with the 14-150 II which I discovered can really get great images that stand up to some severe cropping. Still wanting more reach for closeups of bugs and bees, but not wanting to use my larger and heavier PL100-400, I added a refurbished 75-300...not expecting much, not for the $300 I spent. But I was pleasantly surprised.

Than I ran across a sale refurbished 40-150 f/4-5.6 that I snatched up for less than $50 and decided to pair it with my lowly E-M10 III. But hey, how good can a $50 lens on a entry level camera body be........again, I am impressed. I still need to wring out the best from the 10.3/40-150 pairing but I'm having a whale of a good time exploring how much I can get from these "low end" offerings.

Some recent examples......
