Unlike the EF 50/1.2L, the 85mm f/1.2LII has no CA issues.

But then you say...

The 85/1.2LII does have some pronounced LoCA at large apertures (just as the 85/1.4L and 50/1.2L). The RF 85/1.2 has improved on that a lot, with the Blue Spectrum Refractive optics. It's in the 35/1.4L II as well and and it's brilliant.

The excessive purple and green fringing is why I sold my 85mm f1.2 II.

Yes, I wrote that because there is a difference between CA (lateral) and LoCA (longitudinal) what is also called bokeh fringing

So you believe that one is always an issue and the other is never an issue?

CA and bokeh fringing can often be seen in the photos of the 50L at large apertures,
but if it is an issue depends on the user. There are a lot of satisfied users of the 50L, so for them it's clearly a small or not an issue. They like the rendering. For me, CA is an issue. So I didn't buy the 50L and went with the 50Art that has almost no CA.

Some find the noticeable bokeh fringing of the 85L an issue. I find I can live with that as it's only longitudinal and not the more known lateral CA. Others can't. You couldn't, as you sold your 85L. Which is fine of course, you know best what you want.
