Upgrade from 8-bit video?

Hello community,

I wanted to ask for some advice. I own a Sony A7 III and shoot mostly video. I've got used to shooting in S-log in 8-bit somehow (it's been really helpful in understanding how log works and how to properly expose), but I'm looking for an upgrade now. It's not urgent, and I can surely wait a few months, but I do believe my A7 III is losing value quite rapidly...

I’m torn between switching to a Panasonic S5 or waiting for a “future” A7 IV next year, hoping it does at least 4K 60p 10-bit (which is all I would be happy with). I have only manual lenses, so no sweat on changing systems. Sony has amazing AF, so it's very tempting to stay on that route for the future, but I don't use it right now.

I'd love to just get a Pocket 6k or A7S III, but I don't have the funds, and I want to take stills as well, so selling and buying another hybrid is my only option. The S5 has a great price and AMAZING controls, but the IPB codecs, 30min time limit, mini HDMI and ok rolling shutter make me wonder if it’s best to wait a bit more… But on the other hand, a "future" A7 IV may not have anything better than what the S5 has now (besides the autofocus). Maybe better dynamic range? Full HDMI? ALL-I codecs? better EVF?

Any thoughts you may have would be greatly appreciated...

Greetings from Spain!
