Hi, I'm leaning towards buying the Kase magnetic circular filters for my 77mm lens. But I'm undecided on the size of the filters. If I take the 82mm, I'm told I'll benefit from less chance of vignetting if I stack 3 filters together. But the disadvantage is I can no longer use the lens hood on my 77mm if I use the 82mm filters. I'd like to hear your thoughts. Many thanks!

Which 77mm lens?

At 24mm, my 24-105 gets vignetting in the corners with a 77mm + 82mm on the step-up ring or two 77mm filters directly.

On my 77mm 85/1.4, I can stack every filter I have and not care.

Noting that I have 82mm ND filters because I also have a 16-35GM and that's 82mm.

I have Nikon 24-120mm and Nikon 70-200mm.

Not sure if I've understood your correctly. Do you mean you have both 77mm and 82mm filters? Will it work better if you use a step-up ring on your 77mm lens and put the 82mm filters on it to avoid vignetting?

I have a 77mm polarizer and 82mm ND filters with a 77 to 82 step-up ring.

Both end up vignetting pretty hard on my 24-105 zoom at 24mm. Because the step-up ring is not in fact flat, so you can have 1 77 mm polarizing filter or 1 77mm "filter" + 1 82mm filter attached to it.

/This might be better asked for the Nikon forums. A specific question about a specific lens.
