A7Riv as webcam?
1

(Not sure this is the best forum for this, but it's at least partly relevant.)

I've just tried out the new Imaging edge webcam system, using the A7Riv. Seems fine, but I'm a little puzzled about face detection and autofocus. These are not mentioned in the Sony instructions (https://support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/app/webcam/en/instruction/) but it seems that the software automatically turns these on, as it keeps focus on me if I roll back and forth in my chair.

As far as I can see, you need to set the aperture and EV compensation manually.

Has anyone else played with this, and do you have any thoughts on how to get the best out of the facility. At first sight it's a much better picture than my standard UHD webcam, although a little clunky to arrange (see below). Still, "because it's there".

Works fine with Zoom; there is a problem with the latest update of the Teams software for all webcams (not just Sony )-- see https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msteams/forum/all/ms-teams-crashes-when-using-a-camera/7b4252e3-5334-4bfb-9067-f3725eb50985?auth=1 Presumably this will be fixed in the next week or so...
