I have an interest in archaeology, and have found the inbuilt GPS module and the magnetic compass in my Eos 7D Mk II very useful, for not only recording where I am, but also the compass direction of any photographs. Hopefully both facilities will be included in some new R series bodies in the future. [..]

I think Canon decided that the compass was too much hassle for the users, you have to recalibrate it often for it to be effective and large ferro-magnetic objects tend to confuse it (e.g. dumpsters).

... and shooting when walking in old ironstone quarries...  I found around a 20-30 degree error.  But, I don't often go to such places, and in the main, it's a feature I want included.
