Is 17-35mm f2.8 Nikon still good?

The 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5 G for landscape

it is a much newer lens design. Looks cheap (is relatively cheap) and is light weight. It is not as wide or fast as the 14-24 f/2.8 -- if you need that.

The 18-35 is in the class of the 14-24 when used with landscape apertures f/4.5 - f/8 - ... and it is less prone to flare and ghosting than the 14-24. The 18-35mm takes 72mm filters. I think highly of this lens in the range 18-28mm. At 35mm, I would stop down further than f/8 or choose the smaller angle of the Sigma 40mm f/1.4, which has no par both in IQ and weight .
